This wind sculpture is a modified garden pinwheel. The spinning collar attached to the pinwheel (which is assembled out of nylon spacer rings) turn a set of bands and pulleys that play 3 music boxes. They are mounted to a plastic resonating board, which is cut from a corrugated plastic yard sale sign and affixed to the pinwheel’s frame with zip ties. This was a hobby project for my backyard. Second draft sketches, updates: pinwheel and music boxes spin in opposite direction. Solution is to add a twist in the first rubber band. Considering adding additional material for the resonating board to function as a weather vane to keep pinwheel facing the wind.
