Binaural Microphone Dummy Head
Modifying dummy head to install prosthetic ears and electronics
This hobby project is a DIY binaural microphone set up. I created it as a budget friendly response to similar, but otherwise cost prohibitive, professional recording systems. The prototype consists of a styrofoam mannequin head and a pair artificial ears, made by casting my own ears in silicone. Each ear has a microphone capsule inside the canal. The final piece uses cleaner, off-the-shelf prosthetics, modified to house sound recording components. The final result produces high fidelity stereo audio recordings intended be used by professionals in the film/television/video game industries.
